Lot 50 Colt U.S. Army Model 1901 .38 LC SN: 155559
US military revolver manufactured circa 1901, first year of production. Collector set of items used at the Wahkon Fishing & Hunting Guide Co. in Minnesota, on/near "Mille Lacs Lake", circa 1920's to 1930's. Includes revolver, brass property tag, and a hand made beaded holster. Revolver features re-blued finish, checkered brown plastic Colt logo grips (with copper plaques attached to right panel), 6" barrel, fixed sights, 6 shot fluted cylinder, hole in butt where lanyard ring removed. Bore is fair to good condition, bright, with some erosion and light pitting. Metal retains 90% coverage of dull dark finish, fading with very light patina in many places, edge losses. Some original royal blue on rear faces of hammer. Metal shows sanding marks and some pitting under refinish. Barrel address lines and butt markings are thin & shallow, readable with portions of letters missing. "US ARMY / MODEL / 1901 / 155 / 559" on butt. "5559" inside frame recess & on yoke. "K / 5559" on cylinder latch. "L.E.B." stamped on frame above left grip panel. Grips are very good. Plaque on right panel reads "WAHKON MINNESOTA 1904". Action is smooth, lock-up is good. Holster is fair condition, rawhide with blue felt covering, felt red rose with beadwork borders, attributed to Chippewa tribal member manufacture. Metal tag is good condition with patina and some green corrosion in stamped letters. Also includes a letter with more details on the history of this set. Condition is NRA Good++ *** C&R Firearm ***
